Recognising that awarding of prizes is a progressive practice for celebrating and promoting excellence and achievement and drawing attention to Agriculture Science, Technology, and Innovation (ASTI), the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) are implementing Afreximbank and FARA Research-Innovation Competence in Agriculture (AFRICA) Awards. The AFRICA Prize recognises and celebrates individuals, groups of individuals, or established organisations that have recorded excellence in ASTI, advancing the Agricultural Innovation System (AIS) and Agripreneurship in Africa.  AFRICA Awards are coordinated by AFRICA Awards Working Group (AAWG), comprising FARA and Afreximbank staff members.  The selection of awardees shall be carried out by an independent committee—the AFRICA Independent Awards Selection Committee (AIASC).
